FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2026 — The National Hispanic Health Foundation Action Fund (NHHFAF), a national 501(c)(4) advocacy organization advancing federal and state policy solutions to improve health outcomes in Hispanic and other underserved communities, today announced its endorsement of Xavier Becerra for Governor of California. The endorsement follows NHHFAF’s inaugural Capitol Hill Day, which brought physicians, nurses, and other health professionals from across the country to Washington to advocate for health care access, affordability, workforce development, and greater representation in health policy.

“During Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize not only the contributions of Hispanic communities, but also the responsibility to ensure that their voices are represented in the decisions shaping our health care system,” said Andres Ramirez, President of the National Hispanic Health Foundation Action Fund. “Working with a national network of associations representing tens of thousands of Hispanic health professionals, NHHFAF has heard directly from those serving patients and communities every day. Xavier Becerra understands their challenges and has demonstrated a sustained commitment to expanding access to affordable, high-quality care, protecting patients, and addressing inequities in our health system.”

Becerra’s experience in Congress, as California Attorney General, and as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services gives him a deep understanding of the challenges facing patients, providers, and underserved communities. His agenda to lower health care costs, protect and strengthen coverage, expand primary and preventive care, and invest in a diverse health care workforce aligns closely with NHHFAF’s priorities.

“Xavier Becerra has the experience, values, and leadership necessary to move California toward a healthier and more equitable future,” Ramirez added. “The National Hispanic Health Foundation Action Fund is proud to endorse him for Governor of California.”
